These terms apply to your use of tasklifter.app and to the web design, hosting, and care services provided by TaskLifter ("we," "us," or "our"). By using this website or hiring us, you agree to these terms. If a signed quote or project agreement says something different, that document wins for your project.
1. Quotes
Every project starts with a written quote describing the scope, price, and estimated timeline. Prices shown on our website are starting points; your quote is what you'll actually pay for the scope it describes. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless they say otherwise.
2. Web design projects
Scope
Before we start, we'll scope out everything we need from you, such as text, photos, logos, and account access. Work outside the agreed scope (for example, extra pages or new features) is quoted separately before we do it. We'll always tell you before anything costs extra.
Timeline
Most projects launch in about 2–3 weeks, but timelines are estimates. They depend on receiving your content and feedback on time, and delays on either side may shift the launch date.
Revisions and approval
Your quote includes rounds of review so the site matches what you want. Once you approve the site for launch, further changes are handled as minor edits under a Hosting & Care plan or quoted as new work.
Payment
Payment terms, including any deposit, are listed in your quote. We may pause work, or hold off on launching or transferring a site, if an invoice is overdue.
3. Portfolio Partner discount
If you join our Portfolio Partner Program, you receive 10% off your website build. In exchange, you allow us to show your finished site in our portfolio and marketing (including screenshots, your business name, and a link to your site), and, if you're happy with our work, to share a short review. If you later want your site removed from our portfolio, just ask and we'll take it down; the discount still stands.
4. Hosting & Care
What's included
Our Hosting & Care plan is $99 per month for standard business websites. It includes hosting, SSL, software and security updates, backups, uptime monitoring, bug fixes, domain and DNS help, and minor content edits, as described on our Hosting & Care page.
Minor edits vs. new projects
Minor edits are small updates to existing content, like hours, prices, photos, and text. New pages, redesigns, new features, and larger changes are quoted as separate projects. We'll let you know up front if a request falls outside your plan. To keep things fair for every client, we may ask to quote unusually large or frequent edit requests separately.
Sites with a backend
Sites that need databases, logins, or custom backend services are hosted on a custom plan priced in your quote.
Billing
Plans are billed monthly and are month-to-month. There's no long-term contract.
How to cancel
Because cancelling means moving your website, hosting, and domain settings to you or your new provider, cancellations are handled directly with us rather than through an online button. To cancel:
- Call or text us at 262-353-8449, or send a message through our contact form, and let us know you'd like to cancel.
- We'll confirm your request and stop billing after your current paid period.
- Before your plan ends, we'll work with you to hand over your site files, transfer hosting, and make sure your domain and DNS settings are in your control, so your site keeps running wherever it goes next.
Your plan stays active through the end of the period you've already paid for, and there are no refunds for partial months. A cancellation isn't final until we've confirmed it with you.
Uptime
We host on reliable, professional infrastructure and monitor your site, but no provider can guarantee 100% uptime. If something goes wrong, we'll work quickly to get your site back up.
5. Ownership
Once your project is paid in full, the website we build for you is yours, including its design and your content. Your domain name should always be registered in your name. If you leave TaskLifter, we'll help you move your site and hand over its files.
We keep ownership of our general tools, code libraries, and techniques that we reuse across projects, and you receive a permanent license to use them as part of your site. Third-party software, fonts, and services remain subject to their own licenses.
6. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information, content, and timely feedback.
- Make sure you have the rights to any text, images, logos, or other materials you give us.
- Make sure your business, its content, and how you use your site comply with applicable laws.
- Don't use our services for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive. We may suspend hosting for sites that do.
7. Third-party services
Your site may rely on services we don't control, like domain registrars, email providers, payment processors, and booking tools. We're happy to help set them up, but we're not responsible for their outages, pricing changes, or policies.
8. Limitation of liability
We work hard to do excellent work, but our services are provided "as is." To the fullest extent allowed by law, TaskLifter isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data, or lost business. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in question during the 12 months before the claim.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and we'll update the "Last updated" date. If we make a significant change that affects active clients, we'll let you know.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
